KaEskwela Fans Club

Remember San Francisco de Asisi elementary school?  We visited them in July 2010 to deliver school supplies from the National bookstore foundation.
San Francisco de Asisi
It can get really hot inside the classrooms during the afternoon.  Think oven or maybe a sauna.  Yes, I am serious...  It is that hot inside!  Now imagine spending a whole day in that room.  The school has very limited funds so seemingly simple things like installing electric fans for ventilation have gone unnoticed.  The teachers, who can barely support their own families because of their modest income, took it upon themselves to buy some fans with money from their own pockets.
And now time for good news: YOU can help them get the fans that they need!  You guys know how I love joining contests so I entered our mini project in Cecon's Extend Yourself Project Idea :D  The winning entry gets P50,000!  The judges will determine the winner but the entry with the most number of "Likes" automatically gets P10,000 for their cause.
Click on that Like button :D
Please help us get the most number of Likes!  The button is located after our write up.  Yay!  Paws crossed that they pick us :)

Meow Monday

What is your favorite part of a cat?  Whiskers? Tail? Fluffy tummy?
stretch!
My favorite part is the mouth area.  I know that cats are cute all over but for me this is the cutest part.  I love the how a cat's mouth looks like an inverted "Y".  Also love the upper lip and the whiskers :D  So cute!
Nugget's mouth is extra cute because he has a funny looking birthmark on his lower lip.  I think it makes him look like a wild animal :D  Haha!
Love these two cuddle buddies!  Happy Monday, folks!

Happy adopt day, baby Kumo!

It has been a year since we welcomed baby Kumo to our home.
so tiny and scared!
There were a few rough patches...
fights with Nuggie
Medicated baths
and more than a month wearing the cone

But thankfully, things have gotten a lot better.
brothers
The cats are super close to each other!  Days are spent snuggling side by side.

and now
and sometimes a little too close!
love the smell!
Happy adopt day, baby Kumo!  We love you :)

Early Monday

Our day started really early today.  At around 6:30 am, Erman and I were on our way to DFA (Department of Foreign Affairs) for our scheduled passport renewal.  Thankfully, the whole process was a breeze!  We were finished in exactly 1 hour.  I hope the other government agencies will follow suit in terms of efficiency.  I remember spending almost 6 hours in queue while getting an NBI clearance :D  Crazy!
Nice to come to home two cute cats.  As usual, these two were sleeping again... and beside my teapot too! Hehe.
Kumo kept moving and twisting!  Nug on the other hand can sleep for hours without changing position :D
 Such a funny kitty!

Christmas shopping

Have you started your Christmas shopping?  I usually buy my gifts in December (Yes, I cram!) but I started earlier than usual this year because my mother-in-law had a scheduled trip to the US last month.  I wanted to make sure that all gifts for our relatives were with her before she left.

Philippines in a box!  Gift to my plurk friend in Idaho
I find it a bit challenging to buy gifts for folks living abroad.  For one thing there is a limit on the size and the weight.  Then I worry about the customs.  I remember sending my client a package containing polvoron, dried mangoes and other yummy Filipino snacks but sadly they were all confiscated by the Australian customs.  Boo.  Last year I sent a package via Fed ex to a plurk friend in Idaho.  My stuff had to be quarantined for a day since I sent a few shells and a wind chimes made of Capiz :D  I have no problem with that...  I mean, I understand the need to thoroughly screen in coming items.  I wanted to send more stuff like a nice burlap aisle runner but had to limit the weight since shipping is quite expensive.
Anyway, going back to this year's gifts...  I got my sister-in-law a very nice Filipino cookbook.  I heard that they have been cooking more often these days so I figured that this cookbook will somehow make them feel a bit closer to home.  The ingredients and processes are thoroughly explained making it easy to find substitutes just in case the ingredient is not available there.
The photos are beautiful too!  All taken by master photographer, Neil Oshima!  I'm definitely getting a copy of this book for myself :)
We got the kids really cool storybooks.  I like that there are both English and Tagalog translations.
And the illustrations are wonderful!  Just look at that Manananggal in the MRT. Haha!  I really hope they like our gifts :)

This is my box!

For the past 2 weeks, the boys have been taking turns sleeping in the old Skyflakes box.
These cats love to snuggle together but it's a solo event when it comes to sleeping inside the box :D
One time I saw them having a staring contest.  Nugget got to the box first but I guess Kumo wanted to go in as well.
This is my box!!!
The staring contest was followed by a fight...
Attack!
And the winner is...  Aww, poor baby Nuggie!  Maybe I should put another Skyflakes box beside this one!

I love red shoes!

The red shoes that I ordered online from HebeManila arrived the other day :)
I don't usually buy shoes online since I like trying them on first and seeing if they fit well, but there was something about this pair that said "buy me now".  Hehe.  I also took a gamble at the size.  I 'm usually a size 8-8.5 but since the only available sizes were 5 and 9, I got the 9.  It turned out to be a good decision in the end because the shoe fits me perfectly!
There is just some toe cleavage (my feet are conservative :P) but Nuggie doesn't seem to mind.  I'm happy to have 1 more pair to add to my red shoe collection...
Red Nike Free
Flat red shoes I got in Singapore.  These are paper thin though and are painful to wear for a long time :(
And my wedding shoes, which I think will be my favorite shoes forever.  Okay, these are not pure red, but I think they make the cut :D

We have sinned!

The day started with garlic rice and gambas.
followed by Aligue (crab fat) pasta
and then a yummy crepe
and iced cappuccino for dessert!
And now back to oats and brown rice... Hehe.  Just kidding :D
