Orange and Conehead

The white kitty has been wearing the cone for over a month now.
No more sad face since he is so used to it already!
Sleeping with the cone on beside big orange
We used to take the cone off during meal time...
but we found out that he can manage with it on.  Hopefully we can remove the cone soon.  I miss seeing Kumo without it.

Good Food Co.

We just signed up to be a part of a Community-supported agriculture (CSA) group.  What exactly is CSA?  According to Wikipedia, Community supported agriculture (CSA), a form of an alternative food network, is a socio-economic model of agriculture and food distribution.  A CSA consists of a community of individuals who pledge support to a farming operation where the growers and consumers share the risks and benefits of food production. CSAs usually consist of a system of weekly delivery or pick-up of vegetables and fruit.
I've seen a few CSAs online and luckily, Good Food Co. has a pick up point near our place.  Yay! Every Saturday we will pick up 3.5kg of fresh, local and organic goodies!  This week's harvest consisted of saba, cassava, squash, eggplant, kamote talbos, native pechay, sili pansigang,  mustasa,  tomato, malunggay and kamote.  Hope we can go on their farm tours someday :)

School cat

We found baby white sleeping beside my little sister's school bag yesterday.
It was so funny!  It looked as if Kumo went to school and got home really tired.
Don't mind me - I'm just reading this book... zzz! :D
Uh-oh!  Kumo, when is your book report due?
Not sure if Nuggie wants to help out :P  What a lazy kitty!

Happy 100th!

It was my grandfather's 100th birthday last August 5.  He has been gone for more than a decade but the family got together to celebrate his birth.
100 candles!  I think this is the first time I've seen this number on a cake :)
The birthday mass was celebrated by Father Dick.  He's been a part of family events for years now.
He prepared gifts for everyone!
What was inside the envelope - crunchy Cloud 9!
After dinner my lola performed for us.  Lola Lucing is 97 years old and she plays the piano everyday!
Father Dick sang a few songs too (with Tita Cecile on the piano).
Happy 100th, lolo!  We miss you!

White lamp shade cat

We have 2 lamps at home :)
Kumo lamp
One is a bit grumpy though!
Kumo lamp
There is a lot of improvement on Kumo's skin.  Almost all the wounds are dry except for 2 new spots at the back!  This happened when we let Kumo roam without the cone yesterday.  We are starting to think that he has Psychogenic Alopecia?  I'm not so sure but I did a search on excessive cat grooming and self inflicted wounds.  Kumo loves to groom himself and we noticed that he spends a LOT of time cleaning himself compared to Nuggie.  We'll ask the vet about this when we bring him in for his check up.
kumo and nug butt
Not so sure if Kumo's habit of sleeping right next to Nug butt is a factor in his infection (but vet said it wasn't).  He also loves sleeping beside the wet floor mop and broom!  We are definitely keeping him away from those.  What a strange kitty!

S.O.S Pledges

The School of Satchel (S.O.S), a Filipino leather goods brand, launches ‘S.O.S PLEDGES’ in partnership with KaEskwela Inc. which promises to give a school bag to a KaEskwela beneficiary for every purchase from S.O.S’ new premium collection available this month.
S.O.S is known for its hand-crafted vintage style leather satchels from genuine cow hide.  The brand’s products are made by Philippine craftsmen, are hand-cut and assembled manually.  S.O.S endeavors to support Philippine leather industries by using Pinoy leather and local manufacturing.

While living in the United Kingdom, Bianca Donato, the sole proprietor of S.O.S, saw firsthand how fortunate their public school students are since tuition fees, school supplies, meals and transportation are subsidized by the government. Bianca’s describes her motivation behind the program, “In the UK, students could focus more on their schoolwork and not worry about making ends meet.  Here education remains a privilege to a certain few which shouldn’t be the case.   We still have a long way to go and we can do our part by supporting organizations such as KaEskwela that aims to provide equal educational opportunities to all.”

The School of Satchel can be purchased online.  Also available at Heima Stores (N. Garcia, Makati and Cubao Expo), Analog Soul in TriNoma and Vanity Without Apology in Pop Culture, Alabang Town Center

Sad white kitty

The past few weeks have been tough on baby white.  He has a lot of wounds on his body due to a fungal infection so the cone is back to keep him from scratching and licking off the medicine.  It also helps him stay away from the plants and the maxforce roach bait that we have lying around.

What a sad face!

Aside from the fungal cream, we have to bathe him twice a week using medicated soap and shampoo.  He can get really wild and violent during bath time so we made him special cat mittens.  My brother cut up an old rubber glove and used the finger part to cover Kumo's paws.
not happy
Just a few more weeks, Kumo! You can do it!
