Green Tea KitKat

Today's lunch was a grilled tuna sandwich with zucchini and spinach.  Also had 1 poached egg.

 

For dessert I had half a KitKat bar.  I've been staying away from sweets but this one is an unusual flavor so I had to try it :)    Did you know that there are so many Kitkat flavors out there?  Over here though there is not much variety.  Check this flickr photostream to see other interesting flavors.  I am particularly curious about the Royal Milk Tea flavor :)

By the way, my green tea KitKat was also green inside!  How cute is that? :)

It's not too late

My brother and I had our blood tested for diabetes.  Though our results are within the normal range (actually, blood sugar is a bit high but still considered normal), we've decided to eat healthier.  No more fast food delivery for lunch, less white rice and no more sweet snacks on weekdays.  On weekends we can have some of the fun food but of course in moderation.  We're also exercising more.  Yay for me because I seriously need to lose weight but I hope no weight loss for my brother because he is already about 20 pounds underweight!

Hello healthy breakfast/snacks!  That's 5 pounds of  whole grain cereal...  Although we are switching to just Cheerios or Nestle Fitness after we finish the Special K because I just found out that it has HFCS!  I really wish that eating healthy was not so complicated especially with all these chemicals/additives in our food :(  Organic food is not only limited here but it is also prohibitively expensive!  Hopefully, there will be more options for everyone soon.

Sandwich for today

I had a grilled turkey bacon sandwich for lunch today

Just dropped the meat, onions and tomatoes on the grill pan

added cheese, spinach and pickles.  Yum!

Update on Joseph Candare Case

I received this message regarding the Joseph Candare case in my e-mail this afternoon.  For those of you who are not aware, Joseph Candare was seen stomping a kitten to death in his school last year.  He later bragged about this heinous act on his blog.  The case was escalated to the school tribunal but was dismissed.  The Philippine Animal Welfare Society (PAWS) then forwarded the case to Metro Trial Court and this decision was reached:

"Dear Animal Advocates,

 

If you happen to see JOSEPH CARLO CANDARE (picture below), anywhere, please have him arrested by the police. If you are aware of his whereabouts, please inform PAWS through philpaws@yahoo.com.

 

An Order Notice from Metro Trial Court NCJR Branch XL 40- Quezon City states that a warrant of arrest has been issued for Candare with a bail of P4000. The Order was signed by presiding judge J.N. Asis. 

 

 

Last known whereabouts: UP College of Science - Candare is a Physics student.

PAWS' case versus Candare is now Criminal Case No. 00859. He is charged with violation of the Animal Welfare Act for stomping a kitten to death before horrified witnesses in front of the NIP Building in UP last April 2009." - from Paws blog

Don't eat too fast!

This orange cat threw up most of his lunch because he was eating too fast again!  I saw a special bowl for dogs with this problem but I'm not sure if it would work on cats too.

Sleeping without a care in the world!

Any ideas how to make this orange cat eat slowly? :)  Btw, I uploaded cute sleeping pics because I don't think anyone would like to see vomit photos! LOL

Goodbye, NU 107

We grew up listening to NU 107 because of our dad.  He'd have the car radio tuned in to the station as he would fetch us from school.  We'd be listening to Blind Melon's No Rain and other great songs...  It was definitely a nice break from our carpool mate's mom who always played her Jose Mari Chan tapes as she drove us to school :)  (okay, nothing against Jose Mari Chan but imagine listening to "Beautiful Girl" and "Constant Change" every morning. LOL).  So it was definitely a sad day for us when we found out that the station was closing.

Hard Habit to break.

We passed by last night for the station's final broadcast.  We couldn't see what was happening inside because of the crowd but thankfully someone brought a laptop for the live streaming.  I kept looking up at the screen :)

I remember calling the station when I was in High School to request for Jennifer Trynin's Better Than Nothing.  It was such a rush when the DJ asked me to repeat my request on air!  I think I even taped a copy of that!  If only I can still find the cassette... and a cassette player :D

We'll definitely miss NU 107!

Catch of the day

Spotted this teapot shaped Fennel in the grocery this afternoon

and also the tail end of a GIANT squid.  It looks so huge compared to the other squid beside it!

Wish we could have seen it whole with the head intact :)

We bought a portion to grill for tomorrow's lunch.  Still can't get over how huge it is :)
