Something to look forward to in 2011!

We just booked our wedding photographer and this is how their office looks like.  Well, a part of it :)  I've always loved these things - Dia de los Muertos skulls, vintage cameras and assorted knick knacks so I knew we had found the right group as soon as we went inside their office.  Yay!

Symphony of Parols

I love how magical the Ayala Triangle park looks this Christmas season.

Fancy Fruit

I was in the mall the other day and chanced upon this really cool fruit exhibit.  Have you ever seen a fruitiquet? 

A fruitiquet is a bouquet made from fresh fruits.  Quite clever, huh?  I'm sure this will be a big hit in parties :D

This is John Jusay, the fruit carver who made all these fancy carvings.

Isn't this paisley melon the cutest? 

 

He told me that it took him around 30 minutes to carve this watermelon.

Choco-Late' de Batirol, Baguio

Baguio weather is perfect for hot chocolate!  To get our hot choco fix, we headed to a quaint little restaurant called "Choco-Late' de Batirol" in Camp John Hay.  Chocolate de batirol is hot chocolate made from local cocoa tablets mixed by hand using a wooden whisk/mixer.

Aside from hot chocolate, they also serve breakfast and rice meals.

Cozy nook

Traditional way of making hot chocolate.  We have the same kind of pot at home which my mom uses when she is in the mood to make native hot chocolate.

hmm, frothy!  I got the Baguio blend - chocolate with strawberry syrup (p90) and Bibingka (p95).  Nothing special about the Bibingka but the hot choco was really good.

Sick days

I've been sick this past week.  I'm not sure where I got the bug but I guess it's expected after many sleepless nights rushing work.  My food choices haven't been very good either...  when there is too much work I usually just order in.  Fast food and no rest equals fat sick meow :(

The cats have been doing a good job in keeping me entertained though.  Kumo has taken over my tissue box!

But I know he tried to go inside the box too but failed :D

To soothe my itchy throat, I squeezed about 20 pieces of calamansi to make juice.  Look at those seeds :D

also boiled some ginger and added it to the juice to make it more potent.  How about you?  What do you usually take when your throat is sore?

Amorita is Love

I have been thinking about going to the beach a lot these days.  Work has been really hectic and our wedding planning is getting more complicated as the date grows closer.  There is also Christmas shopping and of course holiday traffic!  These are the times when I wish I could go on a trip and just detach myself from all the chaos.  It would be really great if I could go to a nice sunny place like Bohol and just relax.  Actually, Erman and I were supposed to go to Bohol this year but we had to cancel because of work :( Boo! 

It would have been really cool to be back here at Amorita in Panglao island.

And just sit down on one of the lounge chairs and just relax.  No computers, e-mails, text massages and phone calls :)

Or just stay in bed and watch TV.

Friendly Friday

I am so happy that the cats are finally getting along.  Sure there are times when the dusty old cat gets annoyed with little white's energy and playfulness but so far things are going great.

I snapped this photo of them being all cuddly last night!

I don't know why but the cats LOVE sleeping in front of my computer when I am working at night.  It's probably the warmth from the machine but I'd like to think that it's because they want to be close to me  :)  It used to be just Nugget but now Kumo has joined in.  Seriously, how can I concentrate when there are two cuties in front of me? :)

Kumo is still so small but I know he will catch up to Nuggie in a few years.

Welcome home, Kumo

After a long deliberation and many name suggestions, we've they've finally decided to name baby white, "Kumo".  Kumo means cloud (or spider) in Japanese.  Yes, it's a very fitting name for baby white but I think I will still call him Nougat, Chicken or Cloud when nobody is looking :D

My little sister and her friend made a box house for him

but it was too small so they had to add another box to complete the house.  Isn't this the cutest?

I think he likes it :)  Although now the smaller box is in shreds!  Kumo is super playful (and destructive)

and thankfully things between him and Nugget are starting to work out.  No hugs yet but there is noticeably less hissing and growls. Yay!
