Giants

My mother-in-law freaked out when she saw that I bought one singkamas for p45.50 at the grocery.  She said it was crazy expensive since I could get a whole bag for that price at the market.  Yes, it is really cheaper there but I seriously think I got a good deal on this.  I think she was so focused on the price of 1 singkamas that she forgot to notice that this one is a GIANT weighing at 1.3 kilos!
It's really huge!  I'm not sure if it looks big in the photos so I placed it beside random objects for size reference :D
Here it is beside my phone.
 and beside condiments!
See!  it is even bigger than the tabasco bottle!  and wider than the ketchup bottle!
It reminds me of this one HUGE carrot that I saw in the grocery a couple months back.  I didn't buy the carrot though since it already had some soft spots on the top.
I'm also reminded of this orange giant we have :P  Here he is beside a 1.5 liter bottle of coke.  Hahaha!

Senior Nuggie

Nuggie is turning 12 this year.  He still acts the same to me but I know that I should be paying more attention to his special needs.
I never really noticed it before but his face suddenly looks older to me.  His eyes are a bit lighter too.  I wonder if he is having a hard time seeing things...  Too bad cats don't have contacts or eyeglasses.
I'm sure Nug will look super cute with a pair of retro eyewear from www.eyesave.com.  Haha, just kidding :)
I really hope that we will be able to provide him with the proper care that he needs in the years to come.  We love you so much, Nuggie :)

The story of Nugget

The first time I saw Nugget, I was painting a portrait of myself :D  I was still in college and we were in the middle of class.  I'm not sure why but I looked out the window (and at the parked cars) and immediately noticed 4 kittens moving around at the back of my classmate's pick up truck.  The kittens were really tiny and were getting baked in the sun... plus there was no box or cushion to protect them from the hot metal!  I remember saying something like "There are kittens outside!" loudly which I think annoyed our professor since the whole class followed me outside.  As it turns out, my classmate's dad had placed the unwanted kittens there for disposal :( As much as I wanted to take them all home with me, I knew that I could only take one. I immediately fell in love with Nugget. He was the smallest and squirmiest in the bunch yet I knew he was extra special because of his dark orange fur. I've never seen any cat more orange than him before! He looked like a chicken nugget- tiny and golden brown :) Nugget and I have been through a lot the past 10 years - moving 3 times, death of my other beloved cat, Cubi, birthdays, vet visits, living with other cats (unsuccessfully with Kirby and now with Kumo), my wedding and many other fun experiences. I love this cat so much that I have no words to describe how I feel. Hopefully, we will have more happy years together along with Kumo.

Busy Nugget and the house of Katsu

Another week has passed!  I can't believe that January is almost over.  I don't think Nuggie noticed because he has been busy all week.  His days are so packed that I think he needs a personal assistant (Oh wait, that's me!).  In a day he has almost 16 hours of sleep, grooming, 2 meals, snacks and naps in between.  So busy! :D
i can reach it!
It was also a busy day for us.  My brother and I had run errands in SM.  We looked at several things but ended up emptyhanded.  I think we will be looking online for stuff like my craft materials, avid mbox 3 mini at musician's friend and cat toys.  Since we were already in Megamall we decided to have lunch at Yabu: The house of Katsu.  As expected the place was packed.  Yabu is quite popular lately since all food bloggers have been raving about the yummy food.  We waited for a few minutes before being ushered inside.
My brother got the 120g Rosu (pork loin with fat) Tonkatsu Meal (p320 + 12% Vat and Service charge).
I ordered the Chicken curry meal (p290 + 12% Vat and Service charge).  I asked them to serve the curry on a separate bowl.  I got very intrigued with their homemade curry because it said on the menu that it is made with 45 ingredients!
curry soup :P
Both meals were served with rice, miso soup, sliced fruits, pickled veggies and unlimited shredded cabbage.
It's good that the cabbage is unlimited because there are 2 dressings to choose from - creamy sesame and vinaigrette.
grind it!
We were also given a small bowl of sesame seeds with a wooden pestle for grinding.  The waiter told us to mix the ground seeds with the tonkatsu sauce and use this for dipping.  Yummy!  Overall we enjoyed our meal at Yabu.  The servings are huge and can be shared by 2 but with extra rice :D

Nuggie Ensaymada

Nugget has a new favorite box.  He's been sleeping there for the past week and we all think it is so funny!  Why funny?
It's funny because this is how it looks like from the top :D  Just look at our baby ensaymada.  All curled up in a tiny box.
I fit!
Look at those feet!  Too cute!  Speaking of ensaymada...
Erman and I ordered our Christmas gifts yesterday.  Can you guess what is inside the cute pink box?
Ensaymada of course!  Mallorca Pasteleria's version is one of the best for me.  I love that they use Queso de Bola and lots of anchor butter.  Yes, very calorific but so worth it :D

Let the eating begin

Just attended my first pre Christmas reunion (the first of many!) this afternoon.
stuffed
Not sure how my jeans will fit me by the end of the month but as of now they fit me a little tighter than usual.  In fact, I no longer need a belt to hold my pants up!  Uh-oh...  Suman days are here :D

It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas

My Threadless shirts arrived the other day!
I've been waiting for almost a month so I was really excited to see and touch the actual shirts :D
Hello, Tiger!
The material is nice and soft.  I think I just started a Threadless addiction because I am thinking of ordering again :D
I got a total of 11 shirts, but only 1 of them is mine since most will be Christmas gifts :)  Have you started your Christmas shopping?  I only have a few people left on my list... Just a few more trinkets and maybe a box of vitamin b17 (for my grandmother) and I am done!
Bah Humbug!
Don't worry Nuggie!  I have a gift for you too!

Happy Sunday folks!

Don't forget your Umbrella

Is it going to be a hot sunny day or a wet rainy one?
It's always better to be prepared no matter what.  Isn't that right, Nugget? :D

So, You're back!

Still laughing while looking at the photo of Nugget's face when I got home from the wedding+vacation.  I was gone for over 10 days so he was probably wondering where I was :D  What a funny kitty!

Time for pills

We went to the vet for Nuggie's check up.  The doctor said that Nugget lost 5 pounds from the last time we were there (November 2010).  I guess all that play time with Kumo is effective exercise for Nug :)

I wonder what they have planned for me today.  I hope nothing painful :(
Oh, deworming pills! Yuck! (click to watch)

Kumo's Vest

The past week and a half has been very traumatic for our little Kumo.  He was scratching uncontrollably one night and then two days after a weird bald spot appeared on his back.  A trip to the vet confirmed our suspicions that it was ring worm!  Eeeks.  Kumo loves to play with the sand in the litter box so we're all guessing that he picked up the fungus there.  I also found out that cats under 1 year are highly susceptible because their immune system hasn't fully developed yet.  Aww, poor baby!
Ngaaaw!
The itching has stopped but I am still treating the area with betadine and the prescribed anti fungal cream 2-3 times a day.  The vet also gave us a medicated shampoo to use every 4 days.
i has a vest
Kumo is very active and keeps licking the ointment so I made a tiny vest out of an old sock for him :)  This is his 4th vest this week too.  I know he's supposed to wear that cone shaped collar but I don't want him to be uncomfortable :(
Looks kind of cute on him too :)
Kumo and Nugget
We check Nugget a lot to see if he has any weird patches but so far he's clean.  We're supposed to keep them apart but it's so hard since they like being together most of the time.  Hopefully this thing clears up soon :)

I just want to play

Nugget and Kumo have been getting along really well.

But there are times when I think Nugget's patience is being tested.
IMG_1808
The other day I saw Nugget get "attacked" while he was peacefully grooming himself.

"No, Kumo!  I don't want to play!"

"I'm warning you!"
Uh-oh!  Baby Kumo is scared :D
