Anyway, here are some photos of the ones that did not make it in my kitchen :( Huhu.
I'm so sorry I forgot about you Fuji apple and singakamas
here's a close up of that fuzzy apple that I left in a basket for weeks. Never again!
wrinkled and hard as rocks :( Neglected for 3 months! Eeks.
dried up calamansi. I will make sure this time that I get to use the whole bag.
How about you... are you making any New Year's resolutions? I really hope that I get to keep mine not just for this year but for life :)
That's a good resolution. I have to confess, we have a lot of food that goes bad too. We really should stop the wastage no?
ReplyDeleteWhen calamansi is cheap, my mother buys lots and squeezes them into a bottle. That way it's easier to use, and it lasts pretty long in the frige
ReplyDeleteI plan to do this too this year :D Will also do the same for lemons. Not sure how to save herbs though...
DeleteWhat a good idea!:)
DeleteNakaka-relate ako sa post na ito. A couple of years back, I moved out of my apartment. Everything was packed up without much organization. Fast forward to a year after moving in to the new place, I found myself in the stock room looking for the books I packed... and I stumbled upon my kitchen things in a huge bag inclusive of a rotten bunch of onions, carrots, expired bottles of herbs and spices. Super sayang! Yup, a good new year resolution to add to the list is mindfulness.
ReplyDeleteyes, mindfulness :) buti di bumaho yung books mo :D
DeleteThankfully, no. Naka separate bag sila. :))
DeleteI can so relate!!! That's part of my resolution as well :)
ReplyDeleteEeeeps! This is my problem too :( Hubby complains often about wasted stuff in the fridge, so he bought herb plants for me! Much better than buying herbs from the grocery (herb packages contain so many, di naman lahat gagamitin). At least with the plant, I just get herbs from them as needed.
ReplyDeleteHubby tried to "raise" a calamansi and a sili plant but they both died! So for now I just juice the remaining calamansi to extend their shelf life in the fridge like Nina's mom. Sometimes nga lang bigla nalang nawawala the juice... Hubby dilutes it with water and honey para drinkable. Ok yun no waste, but bad trip nga lang bigla nawawala when I most need it in cooking :P
I can also relate. I do throw away quite a lot of food. I'm hoping I'll be better this year.
ReplyDeleteOur mom lets food rot too...not by choice, she just forgets about it. We're not going to make any resolutions because us cats are purrfect just the way we are! ;)
ReplyDeleteI also hate it when food goes to waste, I hope sometimes we could buy just one piece. It really helps to be creative in the ways to incorporate them into cooking before they dry up. Sayang the spring onions and leeks.
